Transfer 35mm Slides to Digital Files

If you have some old photo slides that you'd like to digitize, we've cobbled together a Windows 98 PC with an old Polaroid SprintScan 35 Plus attached.  SprintScan software is installed.

How to Avoid Getting a Computer Virus

Just having an Anti-Virus program isn't enough.

Some tips:

1)  Occasionally check that your "virus defintions" are up to date.  All anti-virus progams do updates and date stamp them.  Open up your A-V program and check.

2) Take care regarding attachments.  Especially avoid opening attached files with extensions like .EXE, .SCR, .VBS and .PIF

Recycling Computers and Peripherals

E-WASTE: COMPUTERS, ELECTRONIC & ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, CELL PHONES, SOFTWARE ETC.

Functional items can be reused through the Swap Shop. Broken items can be picked up for recycling.

All software (i.e. floppy disks, CD's) is also collected.

How Can I Access Library Materials Off-Campus?

If you have a UTORid or library card or Tcard barcode and PIN number there shouldn't be a problem.

What Anti-Virus Program Should I Use?

UofT provides free licenses to Symantec Anti-Virus (SAV) and the newer Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) for staff, students and faculty for use on- and off-campus.

SEP is like SAV but adds a built-in anti-spyware program.  For details and downloads, go to:

Setting Up Your UTORweb Space

UTORweb provides a web server and space for personal web pages, pictures, word-processing documents, etc. This can be used to share documents with others.
