From Network Services (Aug. 11/11)::
On June 20, 2011 UofT's Campus Wireless Network instituted some changes. Current users will find themselves unable to connect until they re-verify their UTORid here: www.utorid.utoronto.ca/cgi-bin/utorid/verify.pl
Please note that the usual wireless network is no longer "UTORwin" but is now "UofT".
If you have some old photo slides that you'd like to digitize, we've cobbled together a Windows 98 PC with an old Polaroid SprintScan 35 Plus attached. SprintScan software is installed.
The unit is in RW336. If you need any help with it, contact: it-help [at] biota [dot] utoronto [dot] ca
Just having an Anti-Virus program isn't enough.
Some tips:
1) Occasionally check that your "virus defintions" are up to date. All anti-virus progams do updates and date stamp them. Open up your A-V program and check.
2) Take care regarding attachments. Especially avoid opening attached files with extensions like .EXE, .SCR, .VBS and .PIF
E-WASTE: COMPUTERS, ELECTRONIC & ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, CELL PHONES, SOFTWARE ETC.
Functional items can be reused through the Swap Shop. Broken items can be picked up for recycling.
All software (i.e. floppy disks, CD's) is also collected.
If you have a UTORid or library card or Tcard barcode and PIN number there shouldn't be a problem.

If you haven't read the whole message, you'll have missed some important information:
When you're off-campus and go to http://www.library.utoronto.ca/home/ to use the catalogue, search for articles etc., you will be asked to log in with your UTORid.
If you don't have a UTORid, you can log in with your library card or Tcard barcode and pin.
